My friend, Mimi, is a Professional Encourager. Honestly. She has the business card to prove it. God gave her the gift of fearlessness, and she uses it, REALLY uses it to tell anyone in her path how great they are.

Two years ago, I saw Mimi at a reunion for Miss America contestants. We hadn’t seen each other for 15 years, when we ourselves competed for the top crown.

It was a fun, but emotional reunion for me. As we reminisced, I didn’t even recognize the girl in the photos– and that girl was ME!

Throughout the week, little by little, Mimi reminded me that I was still strong, I was still brave and I still had the power to change people’s lives… including my own.

Mimi was my own personal, professional encourager.

Fast forward to today– or yesterday actually– I’m in San Antonio for a Christian women’s conference. The same San Antonio that Mimi lives in… So, I got a ride right to Mimi’s front door so I could tell that beautiful woman in person just what an effect her encouragement has had on my life. Only I didn’t tell Mimi I was coming.

Nothing, NOTHING surprises Mimi. She is hmmm, let’s say… outgoing. That’s a bit of an understatement. She is always catching people off-guard by fearlessly telling them they are wonderful and gifted. Well, this time, it was the other way around. I got her! And, even though it’s blurry, I have the picture to prove it!

In honor of Mimi, I hope today you will be brave, be bold and tell someone they are AWESOME!
