I was reminded of something so very important this morning. I figured you might need reminding of this too.
You are the light that shines in the darkness of this world.
Every smile you send, every gentle response, every negative word you refuse to let out of your mouth — you are shining a much needed light.
Maybe you’re going through something (cause aren’t we all going through something all the time?) and you’re thinking, “How can I possibly be a light to others when my bulb feels burned out?”
I’ve been there, friend. Seriously. I’ve been the suicidal kid, the alcoholic mother, and the disengaged wife. And you know what? I had no idea I was shining any sort of light. But people have said things to me over that years that clued me into this one fact: even when I didn’t know it, even when my own space felt pitch black, I was shining my light in the darkness for others.
That’s what you’re going to do today, whether you know it or not.
So go get ‘em. Shine that light. The darkness can never extinguish it.
