As the wife of a college basketball coach, Alicia Henderson has spent more hours than she can count in a basketball arena. Alicia and her husband, Eric, have enjoyed the coaching profession and have covered five states since their wedding in July of 2003. They met at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE where Alicia earned a BA in Chemistry and then went on to further education at the University of South Dakota to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. She stayed in the profession until their move to Brookings, South Dakota in July 2016. Her family loves cheering on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits where Eric is currently an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Alicia and Eric have two boys Kooper (7), Kort (5) and a daughter, McKinley (1). Alicia became passionate about epilepsy awareness when their son Kort was diagnosed with an intractable form of epilepsy in 2015. With the help of medications and a special diet called the Modified Atkins Diet (a form of the ketogenic diet), Kort has become seizure free. Alicia has come up with some pretty fun ways to spread kindness in her role as a coach’s wife, but sees her kindness mission expanding in the future to other families facing an epilepsy diagnosis.
